SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
May 23, 2016
The Shawnee Township Board of Trustees held a Regular Board Meeting at the Shawnee Township Administration Building, 2530 Fort Amanda Rd., Lima, Ohio.
Chairperson Russ Holly called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. A brief moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call indicated those present as follows: Chairperson Russ Holly, Vice Chairperson Chris Seddelmeyer, Trustee Dave Belton, Fiscal Officer Stephanie Hoffer, Police Chief Mike Keith, Fire Chief Todd Truesdale,, Road Supt. Howard Gray and Cemetery Advisory Board Pres. Joe Hicks. Legal Advisor Clay Balyeat, and Zoning Inspector Mark Bishop were absent.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Mrs. Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of the Minutes of the Regular Board of Trustees Meeting held May 9, 2016, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 2-0.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT
Financial Reports for April 30, 2016 were reviewed by the Board and Departments. A motion by Mr. Belton to approve the financials were seconded by Mrs. Seddelmeyer, motion carried 3-0.
a. Several items of adjustment on reconciliation. Most should clear on next reconciliation.
LEGAL ADVISOR
Discussion:
• Various Zoning notices sent by certified mail were returned.

CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITON
Board of Trustees presented Road Worker Aaron Crider a Certificate of Recognition for
his dedicated service to Shawnee Township.
TRUSTEES BUSINESS
Resolution 30-16 Ending FMLA-Lauren Stauffer
Whereas, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustee passed Resolution 23-16, authorizing Dispatcher Lauren Stauffer to begin Family Medical Leave on April 4, 2016, in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act.
Be it Resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees hereby ends Ms. Stauffer’s Family Medical Leave, effective May 16, 2016, as Mr. Stauffer has returned to full-time duty.
Mrs Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of Resolution 30-16, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call:

Resolution 31-16 Hiring of Jake Breitigan as Full-time Dispatcher
Now therefore be it resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees authorizes the hiring of Jake Breitigan as a Full-time Dispatcher, effective May 22, 2016, with benefits in accordance with the union contract between the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees and the FOP/OLC Dispatcher’s Unit.
Mrs Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of Resolution 31-16, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call:

DEPARTMENTAL BUSINESS
Fire Department
Discussion:
• Working on phone system at INEOS
• Donation from Potash used to purchase equipment. (Plastic Cribbing, Saws-all, Lithium Battery)
• Donation from Marathon used to purchase gear. (Confined Space Harnesses, Helmets)
• Chief Truesdale expressed gratitude for the industries donations
• Foam due to be replaced. Costly to dispose of old foam.
• Purchase of RAMAN Device
o Requirement for Type I Hazmat Team
o Cost $48,500. Grant-Twp. share 5%
Police Department
Discussion:
• Police Awards Banquet at Milano Café
• Evacuation drills at schools
Road Department
Discussion:
• 3 full dumpsters for Saturday’s Spring Clean-up Day
• Ordered 150 tons of stone
• Hiring summer help
Zoning Department
Discussion:
• Complaints (Mr. Holly had a list of calls. Trustees to handle calls in Zoning Inspector’s absence
o Mowing needed on Greens Ave.
o Semi-truck parked at Frail Dr.
o Junk on rollbacks on Dixie Hwy. (Bodine’s)
Cemetery
Discussion:
• Trustees attended training webinar for new cemetery software
• Cost of annual software agreement may be considered in sale of lots
• Possibly hire a person to enter old records
• Person to maintain and enter current records
• Cemetery ready for holidays
COMMUNICATIONS
1. Allen County Health Dept. estimate for support in 2017 ($64,342.67)
2. Continuation and Amendments to Enterprise Zone and Community Reinvestment Area Agreements based on TIRC recommendations (City of Lima Ordinance No. 093-16)
BILLS
Mrs. Seddelmeyer motioned the board approve paying the bills by resolution, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll call:

With no further business to be brought before the Board of Trustees, Mr. Belton motioned the meeting adjourn, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
