BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
April 25, 2016
The Shawnee Township Board of Trustees held a Regular Board Meeting at the Shawnee Township Administration Building, 2530 Fort Amanda Rd., Lima, Ohio. Chairperson Russ Holly called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. A brief moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call indicated those present as follows: Chairperson Russ Holly, Vice Chairperson Chris Seddelmeyer, Trustee Dave Belton, Fiscal Officer Stephanie Hoffer, Police Chief Mike Keith, Fire Chief Todd Truesdale,, Road Supt. Howard Gray, Legal Advisor Clay Balyeat, and Zoning Inspector Mark Bishop. Cemetery Board Pres. Joe Hicks was absent.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Mrs. Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of the Minutes of the Regular Board of Trustees Meeting held April 11, 2016, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0.
FISCAL OFFICER’S REPORT
Discussion: Proposed Bills-Senate Bill 246 and House Bill 398 change the calculation of property tax rates for agriculture land throughout Ohio. Townships and schools will need to keep up to date they would see changes in revenue.
Discussion: • Shawnee Township Zoning Regulations for maximum height for grass is 12” o Other Townships 8”-10” o Review regulations
Resolution 27-16 Authorization to Hire Seasonal Workers
Be it Resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees authorizes the hiring of Summer-Seasonal Labor to assist the various departments of the Township through the Summer Season, and; Further, the Township may hire up to 4 employees, as necessary, contingent upon the passage of all required pre-employment testing.
Mrs Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of Resolution 27-16, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call: Trustee Belton yes Trustee Holly yes Trustee Seddelmeyer yes
Resolution 28-16 Acceptance of Resignation-Dispatcher Christy Dawson
Be it Resolved, the Shawnee Township Board of Trustees accepts the resignation of Christy Dawson, full-time Dispatcher, effective May 19, 2016.
Mrs Seddelmeyer motioned for approval of Resolution 28-16, Mr. Belton seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll Call: Trustee Belton yes Trustee Holly yes Trustee Seddelmeyer yes
Fire Department Discussion: • Seasonal draining of hydrants
Police Department Discussion: • Shut Down at Husky slowing down-less traffic • Several traffic accidents in round-a-bout
Road Department Discussion: • Start mowing ditches next week • Blessing of the Bikes next Sunday
Zoning Department Discussion: • 13 Permits-2 pending • Fort Industrial Dr. Permit-Commercial Bldg. • Complaints
Cemetery Discussion: • Several Funerals • Mowing going well
COMMUNICATIONS 1. Clean Up Day –May 14, 2016, 8am-2pm 2. Final Meeting with County for 2016 Road Program 3. Report on Chip-n-Seal for roadways 4. Care Works-BWC 5. Trustees & Fiscal Officers Meeting, Bob Cupp-HB235, Property Tax Freeze 6. Shawnee School Business Meeting, April 13-Schools and Representatives working together 7. Juvenile Hearing-No restitution for damaged benches. Civil matter.
Mr. Belton motioned the board approve paying the bills by resolution, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Roll call: Mr. Belton yes Mr. Holly yes Mrs. Seddelmeyer yes
With no further business to be brought before the Board of Trustees, Mr. Belton motioned the meeting adjourn, Mrs. Seddelmeyer seconded, and the motion carried 3-0. Meeting adjourned at 10:28 a.m.
